Alexis Zornitta, Ph.D.

Dr. Alexis Zornitta is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and the founder of Advanced Trauma Recovery & Mental Healthcare, LLC. Her practice is built upon a commitment to providing specialized, evidence-based, and trauma-informed care. 

With over a decade of clinical expertise as a licensed psychologist and more than fifteen years of service within the mental health field, Dr. Zornitta brings a nuanced understanding of the impact of trauma. Her primary areas of expertise are psychological evaluation and the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in adults and older adults. 

In therapy, she assists individuals in addressing the complex emotional and psychological sequelae of various traumatic experiences, such as abuse, neglect, sudden and unexpected loss, exposure to violence, assault, combat, and critical incidents. Dr. Zornitta employs an integrative and tailored therapeutic approach, while supporting individuals’ strengths, identities, and values. She is an EMDR and CPT certified therapist and has significant experience delivering a range of other well-established, evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Exposure Therapy, and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT). Dr. Zornitta works with a wide range of individuals and additionally, has specialized training and experience in working with healthcare providers, First Responders, and Veterans. 

In addition, Dr. Zornitta offers Independent Psychological Evaluations for Veterans Disability. She has over 10 years of experience in evaluating and treating Veterans. 

Dr. Zornitta provides in person services at our Newport News, VA office. She is also authorized to provide telehealth services to individuals located in over 40 U.S. states/jurisdictions (see map here).
